Hamara Ghar

Embarking on a transformative journey, "Humara Ghar" rebuilt an old-age home, rekindling hope and dignity for its Elderly residents and forming a secure place for the Elderly to live.

“Humara Ghar”, a transformative initiative led by SCWP, sought to rejuvenate Gills Old Age Home that had fallen into disrepair, aiming to provide a dignified and comfortable living space for the Elderly. The project’s primary goal was to enhance the quality of life for the senior residents of Gills Old Age Home by renovating and rebuilding their living spaces.

The execution of this project was meticulous; we conducted thorough assessments of existing conditions, gathered resources to rebuild the home through fundraising, road drives and community engagement and mobilized a dedicated team of volunteers. This was a three-day project and after laboriously hard work ended with a reconstructed Gills Old Age Home; our dream turned into reality for the Elderly residents.

The impact of “Humara Ghar” on the Elderly was profound, both tangible and intangible. Physically, the renovated home offered improved living conditions, with upgraded amenities and enhanced accessibility. Emotionally, the sense of community provided by the project created a supportive atmosphere, positively influencing the mental well-being of the elderly residents. A dignified living environment instilled a sense of security among the Elderly, both physical and emotional as they felt to be valued members of society who were cared for by the community.

Projects like these encompass the true spirit of SCWP’s mandate which involves working on projects that revitalize the well-being of Elderly. “Humara Ghar” exemplifies the positive outcomes that can be achieved when communities come together to address the needs of their elderly members and we hope to be executing such endeavors in the future as well.
